To Serve as a Unifying Force for the Community Through the Arts.

Purpose

The Beaverton Arts Commission is a local art agency affiliated with the City of Beaverton. Local art agencies seek to integrate the arts into the life of the community with a concern for both the quality of the artistic experience and the larger interests and needs of the community.

Goals

• To contribute significantly to the quality of life in Beaverton by presenting artistically excellent cultural events which celebrate community values and help connect residents to their heritage.
• To inform citizens about exceptional arts programs and cultural activities in the Beaverton community.
• To foster access for our youth to high quality arts programs in our schools and community.
• To promote the richness of Beaverton’s many ethnic and cultural groups and allow for sharing of various cultural expressions.

Services

• Present visual, performing and cultural events and opportunities.
• Serve as an arts information and referral agency.
• Advocate for arts in education.
• Nurture the professional development of local artists.
• Administer the City’s 1% for Arts program.
• Provide technical assistance to artists and arts organizations in the community.
