Beaverton Community Band (BCB)
The Beaverton Community Band is an all–volunteer group of 75 adult musicians who share a love for concert band music and a desire to pass that appreciation on to the public. A wide variety of band literature, including marches, symphonic transcriptions, easy listening pops, swing, patriotic, and holiday tunes, is played at the weekly rehearsals and public performances.
The band is directed by Elizabeth Zinger. At PSU, she works with university ensembles including the Wind Ensemble and Concert Band and studies under the direction of Dr. Edward Higgins. Elizabeth earned her Bachelor of Music Education from the University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign in 1999 and, soon after graduating, moved to Oregon. She has performed with the Oregon Sinfonietta and the Pacific Crest Wind Symphony.
Prior to starting her Masters degree, Elizabeth was the Director of Bands at Boring Middle School in Boring, Oregon. In her four years as the director, she was responsible for a robust band program for grades 6–8 that now boasts the participation of over half of the school population. She looks forward to returning to this post in the fall of 2009, after the completion of her Masters degree. She is thrilled to be working with the Beaverton Community Band and excited to be a part of the group’s continued success.
The Beaverton Community Band usually presents three seasonal public concerts, performs at retirement centers, and participates in the annual Oregon Adult Band Festival. During the summer, you’ll often find the band at community events such as the Beaverton Farmer’s Market, the City’s Picnics in the Park and at concerts on the lawn of the Beaverton City Library.

Donations gratefully accepted on behalf of the Oregon Food Bank
*Since these are outdoor performances, it is stronly recommended that patrons bring a lawn chair or blanket.
