Beaverton Civic Theatre

Beaverton Civic Theatre

2009 marks the inaugural season of Beaverton Civic Theatre. It is a 100%, all–volunteer community group. The goal is to bring, “the community together on stage, behind the scenes and in the audience.”

Performances are held at the Beaverton City Library’s Auditorium, 12375 SW 5th Avenue, Beaverton, Oregon 97005.

PERFORMANCES

The Nerd - a play by Larry Shue
February 26 — March 14, 2010
Willum Cubbert owes Rick Steadman a debt of gratitude, for saving his life in Vietnam. Rick collects when he moves in with Willum. Only problem? Rick has no social graces, intelligence, or tact, driving Willum insane.

The Fantasticks - lyrics by Tom Jones, music by Harvey Schmidt
April 23 — May 9, 2010
Luisa and Matt turn into a rural-American Romeo and Juliet, hiding their love from their feuding fathers. All is not what it seems, however, as their fathers schemed to build the wall that seperates them.

Dearly Departed - by David Bottrell and Jessie Jones
September 24 — October 10, 2010
After the patriarch of the Turpin family keels over, the remaining members of the eccentric and dysfunctional clan gather below the Mason-Dixon line to stick him in the ground.

A Christmas Carol - adapted by Tony Bump
December 3 — December 18, 2010
The classic Dickens tale of the miserly Ebenezer Scrooge, and his visit from the three Ghosts of Christmas.

    Improvisation

    Create unique characters, build engaging stories and strengthen your problem-solving skills through the interactive art of thinking on your feet!

    Workshop #3
    The Art of Creating A Role
    Wednesday, September 29
    If you want to act but don't know where to start, this foundational class will set your imagination in motion while you learn the techniques of physical and vocal control, emotional availability and script analysis.

    Workshop #4
    Theatre Design
    Wednesday, December 8
    Explore behind the scenes and learn to make the world of a play complete through scenery, costumes, lights and sound.
